Thompson Rose (pictured) and Rachel Guy (photographer) complete their Surface Elevation Table (SET) monitoring of Dean Creek last month.

Since 2012, SINERR has been taking measurements of the change in the elevation of the marsh surface at least once a year at permanent study sites. At this particular site, the research and monitoring team has measured a nearly 25 cm increase in marsh elevation since 2012! A site nearby has barely changed over the same period of time. Guy says they think the reason for the change is the replacement of a culvert bridge with a spanning bridge that restored natural tidal flow and sediment redistribution.
